Book Review: The Power of the Prophetic Blessing by John Hagee

I recently had the pleasure of reading The Power of the Prophetic Blessing: An Astonishing Revelation for a New Generation by John Hagee. Before this book I have never read any of his other writings and the author was essentially unknown to me. After this fascinating and informative book I will perhaps have to find some of his other published works.

The Power of the Prophetic Blessing has a wealth of knowledge to present on what these prophetic blessings are and how they can be used with examples of Biblical blessings. Repeatedly I would stop and have my husband read over parts that I found interesting. There is just so much in it! This information needs to be grasped by today's Christian and fully implement prophetic blessings in our own lives and the lives of our children.

When it comes to the writing, it is a fairly simple read. I don't necessarily agree with all of Hagee's points and interpretations of scripture, though I found myself cheering internally on many others. Hagee gives personal tidbits that make me want to search out his other books to learn more about Israel and eschatology. He sets up vivid visual scenes that assist readers in being present for his scenarios, which I always enjoy. Though the chapters may seem a bit long, all are broken up into sub-categories so there was no difficulty finding a good spot to pause and come back.

And although there is a lot of information, if a person is not familiar with their Bible characters they will have trouble following the thought process of the author and fully comprehending his topics. Hagee flows quickly from Jacob, back to Abraham, to Jesus and Paul, then back to Isaac all within a few pages.

This book can be life changing. I would personally love to see a study created from it so readers or Bible study groups can delve more deeply into this topic and better learn about the power of prophetic blessings.
